The New York Jets made a lot of free agent and trade moves this offseason, with multiple stars coming to the Jets, headlined by Geno Smith, Demario Davis, Joseph Ossai, T'Vondre Sweat, and Minkah Fitzpatrick.
While those are some incredibly important additions for the Jets, there is another roster move, a $5.5 million signing, that is one of the sneakiest additions of the offseason.
Bucky Brooks of NFL.com highlighted "Seven overlooked free-agent signings that could pay serious dividends in 2026 NFL season." The Jets addition of Pro Bowl cornerback The Jets $5.5 million addition of Nahshon Wright was named among these seven sneaky moves.
Jets' addition of Nahshon Wright one of sneakiest moves of offseason
"The long, rangy cover corner could solve the Jets' difficulty picking the ball off with his superb ball skills and clutch playmaking ability," Brooks writes. "... But the stat to circle is his five swiped passes in 2025. The extra-long defender instantly upgrades a defense that failed to register a single interception last season."
Wright was a Pro Bowler in 2025, as his five interceptions and three fumble recoveries are exactly what the Jets desperately need on defense.
After recording zero interceptions in 2025, the Jets desperately need ball-hawks in their secondary. Wright was always a good option for the Jets, and this $5.5 million contract they are landing him at is an incredible boon for the Jets.

Brooks named Wright's signing by the Jets as one of the seven most intriguing additions that, while maybe overlooked right now, could be massive moves during the season in 2026.
The 27-year-old Pro Bowler broke out in a major way in 2025, and while there are realistic concerns that Wright's production in 2025 might be a fluke, this $5.5 million signing is well worth the risk for a Jets defense looking for upside.
With how Wright could turn into an extremely beneficial signing for the Jets, despite coming in at just $5.5 million, the Jets' addition of the former Chicago Bears Pro Bowl cornerback is one of the sneakiest moves of the offseason.
