Why Marc-Andre ter Stegen was denied a vote in Barcelona presidential elections

[Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen](/fc-barcelona-transfer-rumors-news/110693/marc-andre-ter-stegen-completes-loan-move-to-girona-from-barcelona) was unfortunately denied a vote in Sunday’s presidential elections after arriving at the club to make his choice.

The German stopper - who is currently on loan at Girona - was spotted at the club to cast his vote but a technical hitch meant he was unable to do so.

According to ESPN, Ter Stegen’s name was not on the electoral register which means he can’t participate.

Socios (members) are responsible for keeping their membership at the club active, and it seems Ter Stegen hadn’t done that and so couldn’t take part in the election.

Ter Stegen has been back at the club recently to recuperate after undergoing surgery. The goalkeeper - who moved on loan to Girona - is set to be sidelined for some time with Michel unsure when he will return.

“Right now, I don’t know how his recovery is going. We spoke after the surgery, and he’s recovering in Barcelona,” he told reporters this week.

“He’s asked to come here at some point, but I don’t know the status of his injury or his recovery. Everything went well. He’s an injured player who’s off our radar. That’s why I don’t have any information about his recovery.”
