While the Vikings nation was thrilled to have the ex-Michigan star on their roster after the franchise picked him as the No.10th overall pick, they are not so sure about how he fits the team in the future after he ended up missing his rookie year due to an injury and then also missing a few games in his first year as a starter in 2025.

As the offseason progresses, many analysts predict that McCarthy could be leaving the Vikings and be replaced by another quarterback like Kyler Murray.

Discussing the rumors of teams like the Chargers and the Rams being interested in McCarthy, fans shared their opinion on the situation:

“Harbaugh and McVay would turn this kid into a Super Bowl winner, we can only hope we are bringing Kyler in as a backup and he’s gonna help KOC coach this kid.” one fan reacted.

“Been a Vikings fan all my life and have seen this same bullshit for decades. Clueless owners who don’t know the first thing about building a SB caliber team getting pressured into making prematurely bad decisions. Getting traded would be the best thing that could happen to him.” another fan shared their thoughts.

“Why would the Chargers reach out to? I get the Harbaugh connection but they have a young Herber ! Browns make sense since there QBs are ass including Sanders , Rams also make sense since Stafford is probably Playing his last year.” another fan questioned.

“Rushing him onto the field last year just to prove they made a good draft pick was stupid. Should have signed Darnold for 3 years and allowed JJ to heal fully and learn like Tom Brady did under Drew Bledsoe, or Aaron Rodgers did under Favre.” another fan pointed out.

“Anyone that wants to see this kid traded after going 6-4 and was in the top 5 in the NFL in every statistical category for the last 5 games is nuts. There is something there and we as Vikings fans should be patient and see it through. He could be a bust there’s a chance he’s not.” another fan highlighted.

Rod Woodson Offers Insight on Kyler Murray Potentially Replacing J.J. McCarthy at Minnesota

Hall of Famer Rod Woodson weighed in on Kyler Murray potentially replacing J.J. McCarthy at Minnesota during a recent appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show.”

Woodson shared that he doesn’t believe McCarthy can beat out Murray as the the new QB1 after the veteran quarterback signed a one-year deal in 2026 post his release from the Arizona Cardinals.

Woodson highlighted a motivation that takes a play when a veteran quarterback is trying to rebuild their careers and mentioned names like Sam Darnold, who just won a Super Bowl title.

“I don’t think JJ will beat him out just for the fact that Murray is an older guy. He’s been around. He understands systems. And the biggest thing is that he has some players over these to help him out. You know, [Justin] Jefferson, one of the best receivers in the National Football League, and I know Jefferson wants more oppurtunity to catch the football.”

Murray is coming off an injury filled year in 2025 and only played 5 games where he secured 962 throwing yards along with 6 touchdown.
