Oscars 2026: Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen's wife Hailee Steinfeld is opening up about her role in "Sinners."

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills kept busy during the 2026 NFL free agency week, but on a personal note, Allen and his wife Hailee Steinfeld are also preparing to be first-time parents. Plus, Steinfeld’s latest feature film, “Sinners,” is up for a bevy of Oscars at the 2026 ceremony on Sunday, March 15.

“Sinners” actually has the most nominations with 16 total nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Delroy Lindo and Best Directing for Ryan Coogler, to name a few.

Steinfeld is not expected to attend the Oscars, because she’s pregnant and laying low during her pregnancy. But, head of the Oscars, she spoke with the New York Times about her movie and shared a revelation about why she wanted to be part of “Sinners.”

Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen Share a Passion for Their Fields

Speaking with the New York Times in an interview, Steinfeld shared news about why she was drawn to “Sinners.” In the feature, she says that while the movie itself was intriguing, the idea of working with the filmmaker behind the “Black Panther” and “Creed,” Ryan Coogler, was what put her over the edge in wanting to do the film.

In the movie, Steinfeld portrays Mary, a former love interest of the character Stack, one of the Smokestack twins, both played by Michael B. Jordan. “With Mary, I feel like I’ve been on the doorstep of this for a long time and this character is what pushed me to sort of truly live in myself,” she told the publication.

Steinfeld also opened up about how doing the film made her feel closer to her family history and roots. “I’ve always carried the utmost pride in my family history,” she said. “But this gave me the opportunity to just go way deeper than I guess I ever would have at this time in my life.”

She added, “One of the most difficult parts of this for me was not having my main connection to this character and her history, my grandfather, here and alive to call him up and ask him questions.”

Hailee Steinfeld Hasn’t Been Able to Attend Many Award Shows Due to Her Pregnancy

In the March 6 edition of her “Beau Society” newsletter, Steinfeld discussed not being able to go to many awards shows for “Sinners” due to being pregnant. But, she celebrates with her cast, who are able to attend.

“Before I sat down on my couch to write to you, I pulled on one of my favorite big giant t-shirts: A Fear of God x Sinners collab, part of a small capsule merch collection that designer Jerry Lorenzo released for our film premiere,” she stated in the newsletter.

She added, “It feels only fitting to be wearing it as I sit here thinking about my friends and castmates who, over the past few weeks, have been receiving the highest honors in film, delivering incredible performances (I’ve had Miles’ Actor Awards performance and Tiny Desk on repeat), and turning out the most insane looks.”

Even though she’s missed out on awards shows, Steinfeld says she has “felt the radiant energy from my cast,” and adds that to say she’s in “awe would be an understatement.
