The Golden State Warriors received an encouraging update on Stephen Curry as the two-time MVP continues working his way back from injury during the team’s ongoing road trip.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said Curry is progressing in his recovery from runner’s knee, though the superstar guard remains limited to individual work for now.
“Steph is on this trip. Kerr says he continues to trend in the right direction — still just doing individual work though,” reported Nick Friedell of The Athletic on X.
Curry traveled with the team for the road swing, a move Kerr believes has helped keep the team’s spirits up despite his absence.
“He’s trending in the right direction and he’s in good spirits,” Kerr said. “Just having him on the trip is important for morale.”
Curry Continuing Individual Workouts

Although Curry has not yet returned to full basketball activities with the team, the Warriors star has begun ramping up his rehabilitation through individual workouts.
“On the trip with Golden State, Stephen Curry — out at least four more games with runner’s knee — worked out this morning,” reported Sam Gordon of the San Francisco Chronicle.
The update suggests Curry is making steady progress but still remains in the early phase of his return-to-play process.
Golden State’s medical staff has taken a cautious approach with the franchise cornerstone, prioritizing long-term health as the regular season enters its final stretch.
Warriors Navigating Difficult Stretch Without Curry
Golden State has struggled to maintain consistency during Curry’s absence.
Since the superstar guard went down with the knee injury, the Warriors have gone 5–11, slipping below .500 and losing ground in the crowded Western Conference playoff race.
Without Curry’s gravity as both a shooter and playmaker, the Warriors’ offense has lacked its usual rhythm and spacing.
Golden State now faces another difficult stretch of games while Curry continues his recovery.
After Sunday’s matchup against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, the Warriors will continue their six-game road trip against the Washington Wizards on March 16, the Boston Celtics on March 18 and the Detroit Pistons on March 20.
If Curry remains sidelined through that stretch, his absence could approach 20 games before the team receives another major medical update.
Curry Set for Re-Evaluation Soon
The Warriors have already identified the next key checkpoint in Curry’s recovery timeline.
After Golden State’s matchup against Detroit, Curry is expected to undergo another evaluation by the team’s medical staff to determine his progress and potential return window.
The timeline is significant as the regular season winds down.
Golden State currently has 15 games remaining, meaning if Curry returns shortly after that re-evaluation, he would likely have around a dozen games to regain rhythm before the postseason.
Warriors’ Upcoming Game Carries Added Storyline
Following the Detroit game, the Warriors will travel to face the Atlanta Hawks on March 21.
That matchup carries an additional storyline involving former Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga.
Kuminga, who emerged as one of Golden State’s most dynamic young players during his tenure with the franchise, is expected to face his former team in what could serve as a revenge game narrative when the Hawks host the Warriors.
Whether Curry will be available for that contest remains uncertain and will likely depend on the outcome of his upcoming medical evaluation.
For now, the Warriors remain focused on navigating the road trip while awaiting the return of the player who has defined the franchise for more than a decade.
If Curry continues trending in the right direction, his eventual return could dramatically reshape Golden State’s outlook as the playoff race tightens.
