Raiders continue shaping roster as NFL Draft approaches

The Las Vegas Raiders have already made several moves in free agency, but the roster may still have a few areas to address as the NFL Draft approaches.

One of the biggest additions came on the offensive line with the signing of Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum, who becomes the highest-paid center in the league. The move signals the Raiders’ focus on strengthening the offensive front as the team prepares for a new offensive system and potentially a rookie quarterback.

Linderbaum said building communication across the offensive line will be key as the group comes together.

“It’s going to take work, and it’s up to the guys in that locker room,” Linderbaum said.

With Kolton Miller, Jackson Powers-Johnson and Linderbaum anchoring the middle of the offensive line, the Raiders appear to have a solid foundation up front. However, some analysts believe the team could still look to add depth — particularly at right tackle — to further strengthen protection.

Another position to watch in the draft is wide receiver. The Raiders could look to add a bigger outside target who can win contested catches and provide a red-zone threat.

Some realistic Day-2 prospects analysts have mentioned include Indiana receiver Omar Cooper Jr. and Notre Dame’s Malachi Fields — both big-bodied receivers projected to go somewhere in the second or third round.

The offensive line could also remain a focus depending on how the draft unfolds. Interior linemen such as Georgia guard Tate Ratledge.

While free agency helped address several key spots, the Raiders may not be done building their roster just yet. The upcoming draft could provide an opportunity to add another playmaker on offense and additional protection up front as the team continues shaping the roster for the season ahead.
