The local organizing committee, in cooperation with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), announced the cancellation of the Qatar Football Festival 2026. Consequently, the planned program of events in Qatar will not take place, including the Finalissima Qatar 2026 match between Argentina and Spain at Lusail Stadium, which was previously scheduled to be held in Doha.

A statement from the organizing committee, reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated: "Given the ongoing airspace disruptions and travel restrictions that continue to affect the ability of many fans, players, and officials to travel, it was jointly agreed that moving the match to another location at this time is the most appropriate option. The local organizing committee welcomes the opportunity to host events organized by both UEFA and CONMEBOL in the future."
He added: “All fans who purchased tickets for the Qatar Football Festival will automatically receive a full refund within 30 days via their original payment method. International fans who purchased travel packages through travel agents will be contacted directly regarding refund procedures.”
