Chelsea consider sacking Liam Rosenior as club hierarchy expresses concern: Reports

Chelsea are reportedly considering sacking Liam Rosenior after his subpar start at Stamford Bridge. The Blues hierarchy are concerned that the manager has not managed to fix the issues at the club swiftly.

According to a report in Sky Sports Switzerland, Rosenior has failed to impress the decision-makers at Chelsea and is already facing the sack. The Englishman was appointed in January following the exit of Enzo Maresca on New Year's Day.

The manager started well with seven wins in his first nine matches, but has now suffered back-to-back defeats against PSG in the UEFA Champions League and Newcastle United in the Premier League.

He has taken charge of 17 matches, winning 10 and losing 5, including three against Arsenal. They have managed just three clean sheets since the manager took over, and that has raised concerns.

The defensive mistakes from the players, especially in the PSG game when Rosenior picked Filip Jorgensen over Robert Sanchez, have seen them lose ground this season. They were in a strong position in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie, but the goalkeeper's mistake saw them concede when it was 2-2 on the scoreboard, and then they ended up losing 5-2 last week.

The club's decision-makers are now considering a swift change should things not improve soon. The report has not mentioned any names, but Cesc Fabregas and Filipe Luis were linked with the job in January, along with Andoni Iraola.

Chelsea hero wants Premier League manager over Liam Rosenior

Chelsea hero Jason Cundy had named Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner as the ideal manager for the Blues in January. He pointed at the manager's Premier League experience as a key reason and said on talkSPORT:

"Oliver Glasner is the one I would go for. That's where I would go. He has proven himself to be an excellent manager. Chelsea are not going to go out and poach the best manager. For example, we're not going to get Pep (Guardiola). But I think, when you look at what Glasner has done at Crystal Palace, where he has taken them, where they have been. He's had his own restrictions, by the way. He's had his own problems at the football club for a lack of investment."

Glasner will be a free agent in the summer as he is not renewing his contract at Crystal Palace. Manchester United have been linked with the Austrian manager.
