Rams get bad news on Eagles' A.J. Brown trade chances despite recent interest

The Los Angeles Rams are looking to go all-in for the 2026 NFL season, but that doesn't mean they can't also plan for the future. Their Trent McDuffie trade and extension are a great example of making moves for now and for the future.

Matthew Stafford is coming back for one more season, and the Rams need to capitalize on their Super Bowl chances while they still can. Spending premium assets on trades and free agents makes a lot of sense.

Recently, they've been linked to Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown. Despite the two being linked frequently recently, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport shared some bad news on the chances of a trade occurring, as the Rams are reportedly "out" on a Brown trade.

Rams are 'out' on A.J. Brown trade with Eagles

"The Rams were one, and they looked into it deeply," Rapoport said. "Ultimately decided it was not for them. And they are, essentially, as far as I can tell, out on the situation."

Brown, the Super Bowl champion and three-time second-team All-Pro, is the best wide receiver that's been rumored to be on the move this offseason.

Despite the Rams having both Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, they've shown interest in Brown and could use another wide receiver anyway. Why not land the top option for not just 2026, but for the future as well?

However, their interest didn't last long, as this reporting form Rapoport indicates that the Rams are out on a trade for the Eagles' All-Pro.

The 28-year-old wide receiver would've been a very fun addition for the Rams offense, but based on this report from Rapoport, the odds for a trade are all but zero as the Rams are "out" on trade talks with the Eagles for Brown.

Adding Brown, a WR with 8,029 yards and 56 touchdowns in seven seasons, would have been a great pickup for the Rams to go all-in this season.

But now, with the Rams backing out of trade talks with the Eagles, the New England Patriots are the only team remaining showing serious interest in Brown.

While a Brown addition for the Rams would've been fun, this report from Rapoport effectively shuts down any chance a deal happens between the Rams and Eagles.
