Report: Chiefs to acquire quarterback Justin Fields

The Kansas City Chiefs will navigate this offseason with uncertainty of when star quarterback Patrick Mahomes will return to the field after a late season torn ACL. With incumbent backup passer Gardner Minshew having signed with the Arizona Cardinals last week, a looming question after free agency’s first wave was who would the team bring in behind Mahomes.

The Chicago Bears took Fields out of Ohio State with the 11th overall selection of the 2021 NFL Draft. After three seasons with the Bears, Fields played in 2024 with the Pittsburgh Steelers before joining New York last season. For his career, Fields has totaled 9039 passing yards with 52 touchdowns and 32 interceptions in 59 career game appearances.

The dual threat Fields has also added 2892 rushing yards with 23 more touchdowns coming on the ground.
