As previously discussed on Gridiron Heroics, the Miami Dolphins needed to address their offensive line depth, with multiple starting spots and key backup roles available. Miami signed Jamaree Salyer on Friday to compete for the starting right guard job. If Salyer wins the right guard spot, the Dolphins need to find a swing tackle, since one likely isn’t on the roster.

According to Adam Schefter, the Dolphins have signed Charlie Heck to a contract to stay in the Sunshine State. He is on his fifth team and entering his seventh year in the league. The 29-year-old Heck has appeared in 69 games with 29 starts during that span, primarily at right tackle, logging over 1,700 snaps compared to just 81 at left tackle. He will vie for the swing tackle role this offseason.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Charlie Heck to a one-year deal last offseason. He was in contention for the swing tackle role throughout training camp but served as the backup right tackle, where he started six games in the absence of Luke Goedeke since Graham Barton moved to left tackle when Tristan Wirfs was sidelined. Heck allowed 32 pressures, 29 hurries, zero quarterback knockdowns, and three sacks across 17 games while accounting for 473 offensive snaps.
