After having one of the best free agencies this offseason, the Los Angeles Rams reportedly tried exploring the idea of trading wide receiver Davante Adams. The receiver spent the last season as one of the better contributors in the Rams’ offense alongside Puka Nacua, hauling in 60 receptions for 789 yards and an NFL-high 14 receiving touchdowns. Despite his old age, Adams hasn’t shown that he’s slowing down anytime soon. However, the All-Pro is entering the final season of his two-year contract, which he originally signed last offseason when he joined the Rams.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk believes that the Rams tried to ship Adams to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for trade candidate AJ Brown. While the team attempted to acquire Brown via a trade, it seems like the organization has refuted Florio’s report in an X post. Still, the veteran receiver might be a trade chip, as the Baltimore Ravens reportedly checked in on Adams.

However, the Rams are getting older, and with Matthew Stafford likely in his final season in the league, the team will need to rebuild. The team has reportedly kept tabs on veteran options at the quarterback position, so they’re preparing to see how they move on if Stafford retires in 2027. Stafford doesn’t have any years left in his current deal, so probably no matter what happens during the 2026 regular season, he will be done.
In today’s landscape, you just never know what might happen in the NFL. After the Dallas Cowboys traded Micah Parsons last offseason, there is a saying of “never say never.” Adams is only looking to win a wing, so if the Rams want to rebuild early, here are three possible fits for the receiver.
Possible Fits
Kansas City Chiefs
Following the drama with Rashee Rice, it might be suitable for the Kansas City Chiefs to bring in some WR help. Despite re-signing Tyquan Thornton to a one-year deal, the team needs more capable weapons to help Xavier Worthy and Jalen Royals. This team is getting too young, and they need to put themselves in the best position again for another run of consistent back-to-back postseason appearances.
The Chiefs have done the Rams a huge favor by trading away Trent McDuffie, and the team could return it to the Chiefs by shipping Adams.
New England Patriots
Meanwhile, the Patriots are going to try to return to the Super Bowl in 2027. After being nearly blown out by the dark-sided Seattle Seahawks, the team has been active in free agency, signing Romeo Doubs to upgrade their pass game after the release of Stefon Diggs and Dre’Mont Jones on defense. Drake Maye is entering a pivotal season this upcoming campaign, and why not get a veteran like Adams in the mix?
Kayshon Boutte is good, but he doesn’t have the length that Doubs and Adams have to haul in the big moments. This isn’t to say that Boutte isn’t capable, but knowing how aggressive Mike Vrabel has been for AJ Brown, they might settle for Adams if the two don’t reunite.
Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos are a sleeper team entering the 2026 campaign, as the team has been rumored to pursue another WR. Bo Nix will be back 100%, but he needs another set of hands to help Courtland Sutton in the aerial attack. If things turn left in Los Angeles, the Rams could trade Adams to head coach Sean Payton to get him a ring before he retires.
