‘He’s Always Whipping Ass’: Sebastian Joseph-Day Excited To Play With Future ‘First-Ballot’…

The Pittsburgh Steelers have undergone a lot of changes this offseason. However, one pillar of their franchise remains in Cam Heyward. While it was unclear if he’d return after Mike Tomlin stepped down, Heyward got a new deal from the Steelers, locking him for at least the 2026 season. New Steelers defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day couldn’t be happier to play alongside the 15-year veteran.

“Cam [Heyward], first-ballot [Hall of Famer],” Joseph-Day said Monday via the team’s YouTube channel. “Tremendous football player, and from what I see from afar, I don’t know him personally, even better human being. What he does in the community, that’s awesome. I’m super excited to pair up with him. His game is amazing.

“When I watch film, because a lot of the teams that I’ve played for were 3-4 defenses, so you always watch teams that have comps to you so you can see the blocks you’ll get, I always watch Cam and he’s always whipping ass. I never see him lose.”

Joseph-Day has been in the league since 2019, and he’s bounced around with a few different teams. While he’s got a decent amount of experience under his belt, including winning a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams, that’s still nothing compared to Heyward.

Heyward entered the league in 2011, and his longevity is astounding. Not many defensive linemen continue to play at an elite level well into their 30s. Heyward is an outlier, even being named a Second-team All-Pro last year at the age of 36. While he’s no spring chicken anymore, he was still one of the best players at his position last year.

His accolades should be enough to land him in the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day. Whether or not he’ll make it in on his first year of eligibility is another story. That’s never a sure thing, even with some of the NFL’s most legendary figures.

Still, Heyward hasn’t called it quits yet, and winning a championship is a reason why. That’s the one thing missing from his resumé. While Joseph-Day doesn’t have Heyward’s numbers, he does have a Super Bowl win to his name. Perhaps that veteran experience will help the Steelers at least win a playoff game.
