The Golden State Warriors' newest signing Omer Yurtseven reportedly didn't know all of his teammates names before playing against the Knicks.
Amid all the injuries facing the Golden State Warriors, the team signed Omer Yurtseven to a day-ten contract before their game against the New York Knicks on Sunday.
However, while the new big man played just 12 minutes, he reportedlydidn’t even know all of histeammates’ names, according to Danny Emerman of the San Francisco Standard.
“Seven of theteam’s eight top scorerswere sidelined; all three two-way players logged minutes; and new 10-day signing Omer Yurtseven played 12 minutes before learning all histeammates’ names,”he wrote.

In his 12 minutes, Yurtseven finished the game against the Knicks with four rebounds and one turnover, missing all three of the shots he took.

The Golden State Warriors are signing former Heat and Jazz center Omer Yurtseven to a 10-day contract, agents Keith Glass and Luke Glass tell ESPN. Yurtseven spent the season in the Euroleague before joining the G League last week, posting 36 points and 12 rebounds Friday night.
“To be honest, it was a much slower-paced game compared to here, absolutely,”he said, per Euro Hoops. “A much more constricted area. So, I think being able to play in that space makes things easier for you to be able to play here, because you have so much more.”
While he did notice differences between the two styles, the new center stilldidn’t see much action in the Warriors-Knicks game, despite the major amount of injury concerns Golden State is dealing with at this point in the season.
“In Europe,it’s much more chaotic,”he added. “They will just shrink, be able to recover it back, because the three-point line is closer, because there is no three-second rule in defense. Those kinds of things affect everything.”
Yurtseven missed his lone three-point shot attempt and ended the night as a -6 in his limited action as the Warriors gave up a 21-point lead in the loss.
Warriors Injury Report And Latest Updates
As Emerman mentioned, Golden State was without a majority of its top scorers and most of theteam’s overall salary cap.
“The Warriors had 10 active players against the Knicks, with $193 million in salary unavailable,”he wrote. “Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, Al Horford, Kristaps Porzingis,De’Anthony Melton, Moses Moody, and Seth Curry were all in street clothes.”
While a few of those players sat due tothe fact that Golden Statewas playing the first night of a back-to-back,it’s the largest number of players the team has been without at any point this season. Though they played a close contest against New York, it was never a game they expected to win.
But now, set for a Monday night matchup against the Washington Wizards, the Warriors could get back a few key players.
According to Anthony Slater, Porzingis and Melton will be available, while Green is probable to play.
The two Curry brothers, Butler, Moody, and Horford, will all remain out, as each is dealing with injuries thatthey’ve yet toturn a corner on.
But amid all the health concerns, Brandin Podziemski, who finished the game against the Knicks with a team-high 25 points, thinks the injuries are a good thing, at least for him.
“I look at it as a blessing in disguise,”Podziemski said.

Podziemski is the only top-ten scoring Golden State player whohasn’t been on the injury report over the past few days, putting in some of his best performances of the season.
According to Tim Kawakami, he could be in line for a new payday this summer.
Idon’t know ifPodziemski’s worth much more than the three-year, $39-million deal that Moody got in October 2024, butI’m positive that he will want more,”he wrote. “I also am relatively sure that the Warriorswon’t want to pay Podziemski anything near the $123 million they paid Jordan Poole in October 2022.”
But for now, the Warriors will wait to get fully healthy for a potential playoff run.Curry has maintained that he wants toget back on the court this season, though he still has no return timeline as he remains out with his knee injury.
