Russell Wilson had a terrible 2025 season with the New York Giants. The franchise finished the regular season with a 4-13 record and were one of the worst teams in the league, finishing last in the NFC East division. They missed out on the playoffs for the third season in a row.
The players are currently enjoying themselves during the offseason period. Wilson caught the attention of fans by hanging out with his stepson.
Wilson had a bad season with the Giants in 2025, having joined them last season. He only appeared in six games, and passed for 831 yards and 3 touchdowns while throwing three interceptions. It was his worst season ever in his career which started in 2012. In the offseason, he took the time to spend some quality time with his stepson.

Wilson took his 11-year-old stepson Future Zahir on his first campus visit to the University of Texas at Austin Longhorns program. He posted a [video](https://www.instagram.com/p/DV3_YMhkShB/) of the outing on social media, with the caption saying, “Hook ’Em! Fun time! Future’s first campus visit! @TexasLonghorns”. In the video, Wilson is seen asking, “Well, what do you think?” to which Future replied, “I love Texas, man. This school is great. I love the stadium, it’s just great. Everything is bigger in Texas.”
The visit included a tour of the football and baseball facilities at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, the trophy room, and the film room. Wilson and Future posed for photographs with head football coach Steve Sarkisian and baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle.
Future was born on May 28, 2014, to singer Ciara and rapper Future. Wilson got married to Ciara in 2016, and has brought up his stepson like his own. He coaches him in both football and baseball, and takes care of his future development. Wilson is also planning his own future in the NFL ahead of next season.
Wilson had signed a one-year deal with the Giants, and was benched by rookie Jaxson Dart. He is currently an unrestricted free agent after his contract expired, and is looking for a new franchise ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
Despite being 37-years-old and in decline, he has dismissed retirement speculation and has previously declared his belief that he can still perform in the NFL. He believes that he can be a good backup and mentor for a younger quarterback. No strong contacts with any team has been established, though some rumors link him to the Kansas City Chiefs.
It remains to be seen which franchise Russell Wilson plays for in the 2026 NFL season.
