NFL Rumors: Patriots Expected To Trade For A.J. Brown, Rams Drop Out

At this point, Patriots fans might be concerned about all the positive buzz surrounding New England and its attempt to trade for star receiver A.J. Brown.

Numerous reports have identified the Patriots as the most likely landing spot for Brown, whose days with the Philadelphia Eagles appear to be numbered. However, recent reports indicate the Los Angeles Rams have considered trading for the veteran wideout.

Then, on Sunday, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk reported the Rams no longer are pursuing Brown and that New England remains the favorite to acquire the 28-year-old.

"There continues to be a league-wide belief that (a Brown trade) will eventually happen," Florio wrote. "Multiple league sources have characterized it to PFT as inevitable. ... As we understand it, however, the Rams tapped out of the talks.

" ... The Patriots remain in play, despite the recent addition of former Packers receiver Romeo Doubs. One source predicts that the Patriots will be the eventual destination."

Brown obviously would be a huge get for the Patriots.

He remains one of the NFL's best receivers despite having a lengthy injury history. Brown's mercurial personality is somewhat concerning, but it's fair to assume that head coach Mike Vrabel knows how to handle him, given their time together with the Tennessee Titans.

In 15 games last season, Brown posted seven catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns. He eclipsed 1,000 yards in six of his first seven NFL campaigns.
