Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles have been constantly in the NFL rumor mill this offseason. Most of those rumors have had to do with the future of star wide receiver A.J. Brown.
At this point in time, Brown still remains on the roster. The Eagles could still move him this offseason, but they haven’t received the trade offer they’re looking for just yet.
Outside of the Brown rumors, Philadelphia has made a few moves. Roseman has yet to make a blockbuster move, but he has added some talent to the roster.
Riq Woolen headlines the list of free agency additions the Eagles have made. He was signed to a one-year deal worth up to $15 million. Other moves include signing tight end Johnny Mundt, cornerback Jonathan Jones, linebacker Arnold Ebiketie, and re-signing punter Braden Mann.
So far, Philadelphia has yet to address its pass rush. After losing Jaelan Phillips to the Carolina Panthers, Roseman should strongly consider making the pass rush a top priority.
With that being said, the 2026 NFL Draft could offer the Eagles a chance to make a pass rushing splash as well.
Philadelphia Eagles Connected to 27-Sack Pass Rusher
USA Today’s Nate Davis and Ayrton Ostly have released a new mock draft after the first wave of free agency. In the second round, they have projected the Eagles to draft Texas A&M pass rusher Cashius Howell.
“Philadelphia loves to plan ahead but may need to go with an immediate need here. Howell’s arm length is a huge question mark, but the Eagles can make it work thanks to his bend and burst off the edge. He’d help make up for losing Phillips from the pass rush.”
Howell could be exactly what the Philadelphia defense needs. He has a proven track record throughout his college career of being a dangerous pass rusher.
After starting his college career with Bowling Green and playing three seasons there, Howell took his talents to Texas A&M for the last two years. He has career totals of 126 tackles, 27 sacks, three forced fumbles, an interception, and 15 defended passes.
Cashius Howell Lands Intriguing NFL Comparison
What kind of player do analysts think Howell can become in the NFL? Two comparisons have been made for him leading up to the 2026 NFL Draft.
NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein believes that Will McDonald IV compares favorably to Howell’s game. McDonald has carved out a nice career for himself already in three seasons with the New York Jets, recording 21.5 career sacks thus far.
Bleacher Report also shared their NFL comparison for Howell. They believe that Harold Landry III would be a reasonable comparison. Landry has played in the league for seven years and has totaled 59 sacks.
If Howell can live up to the hype and reach his ceiling, he will have a chance at being a highly-productive pass rusher in the NFL. He’s a name worth watching closely for the Eagles as the NFL Draft approaches.
