The Denver Broncos have to feel good after last season, but their moves in free agency don’t reflect a team that thinks they have to do much.
Instead, with Bo Nix showing some nice signs a year ago, Denver should be doing what it needs to in order to land decent players. There are many options for the Broncos to pursue.
One name that makes sense is ex-star receiver Stefon Diggs. Diggs was released by the New England Patriots at the start of the offseason.
While Diggs may not get the same money value he once did, and his production is far from what we’re used to seeing, he’s not a bad option to pair in this offense.
Wynston Wilcox predicted that the Broncos would go that route, even saying that they need to find a No. 1 option and Diggs could be that.
“The Denver Broncos have to find a true No. 1 target and there’s no reason why they don’t sign Stefon Diggs. He shouldn’t be nearly as pricey as he was last offseason, with Spotrac projecting an $13.8 million AAV, an $8 million drop from last year,” he wrote.
“Diggs had 1,013 yards last season, his seventh 1,000-plus yard season in the last eight seasons. He can still produce. The caution here is will Bo Nix actually get the ball to him?”
Diggs probably isn’t a WR 1 at this stage of his career, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be a nice piece to the puzzle.
He still posted over 1,000 yards a season ago.
