Now there are two Aggies catching passes in the City by the Bay.
On Monday, it was reported that former Texas A&M wide receiver Christian Kirk has inked a free agency deal with the San Francisco 49ers.
Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero were the first to report the news.
NFL Insider Jordan Schultz is reporting that Kirk’s deal is for one year and worth $6 million.
Kirk, 29, is entering the ninth year of his NFL career, spending 2025 back in the Lone Star State with the Houston Texans. Now, [he will team up with fellow Texas A&M legend Mike Evans for the first time](https://texags.com/s/73770/aggie-legend-mike-evans-inks-free-agent-deal-with-san-francisco).
A second-round pick by Arizona in 2018, the Scottsdale native played four seasons with the Cardinals before signing a four-year, $72 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars on March 16, 2022. His first season in Duval County was arguably his best, as he started all 17 games for the Jags and reeled in career highs in receptions (84), yards (1,108) and touchdowns (8). In March of last year, Jacksonville traded Kirk to Houston, and he appeared in 13 games for the Texans, hauling in 28 passes for 279 yards and one score.
In 106 career games, Kirk has 432 receptions to his credit for 5,415 yards and 30 receiving touchdowns.
Now, he’ll make an already dangerous receiving corps even more lethal as he will join a bevy of weapons at Brock Purdy’s disposal with the 49ers looking to improve on 2025’s 12-5 record.
During his three seasons at Texas A&M from 2015 until 2017, Kirk was a pass-catching weapon and a return specialist, earning SEC Freshman of the Year honors in 2015 after surpassing 1,000 receiving yards and taking back two punts for touchdowns. He led the NCAA in average punt return yards in both 2015 (24.4) and 2016 (21.7), and he was an All-SEC first-team selection in 2016 and 2017.
A call to the Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Famer certainly awaits, but for now, he’ll answer to the five-time Super Bowl champions in Northern California.
