There have only been two teams in La Liga history to reach 100 points in a single season. Real Madrid did it first in the 2011-12 season under the leadership of Jose Mourinho. In the season after, Tito Vilanova’s Barcelona also achieved the feat. Since then, no team has reached that elusive total. Although it’s unlikely that Hansi Flick’s current squad will reach that mark, the math says that the possibility remains.
Barcelona will have to win all their remaining matches to reach 100 points
Barça have acquired 70 points in 28 La Liga games so far this season. With 10 matches remaining, they’ll have to secure a victory in each one to make history.
While winning 10 matches in a row is a tough task for any team, Flick’s squad has shown that they are capable of achieving such a lofty goal. Earlier this season, Barça went on a run of 11 consecutive victories stretching from November to January in all competitions.
Their toughest league challenge remaining is Real Madrid on May 10. If they can produce a night of magic at the rejuvenated Spotify Camp Nou and dispatch weaker opponents, this season for Barcelona could be one that fans won’t forget any time soon.
