Heading into the Monday, March 16 slate, the San Antonio Spurs are set to take on the Los Angeles Clippers.

Lately, the Spurs have wondered about the availability of their superstar center, Victor Wembanyama, as they approach matchups.

The big man has been dealing with ankle soreness as of late, which even caused a recent absence for the Defensive Player of the Year-hopeful.

When the Spurs hosted the Denver Nuggets on March 12, Wembanyama was rled out for the first time since January. The Spurs came up short with a 136-131 loss in his absence.

In the following game, Wembanyama returned to the court to face the Charlotte Hornets. He checked in for 31 minutes. The veteran center shot 13-24 from the field to score 32 points. He also came down with 12 rebounds, while picking up two steals and blocking four shots.

Although Wembanyama popped up on the Spurs’ injury report over the past two games, the team doesn’t have any worries about his availability on Monday night.

Wembanyama has been left off the report, deeming him available for the Spurs-Clippers matchup. Barring any unexpected changes, he will be on the court for the second straight game.

When the Spurs and the Clippers met on March 6, Wembanyama was in the game for 21 minutes. He shot 11-21 from the field, knocking down 4-9 shots from three.

The superstar big man accounted for 27 points, and secured the double-double with 10 rebounds. He also had one assist, one steal, and four blocks.

The Spurs defeated the Clippers 116-112.

With Wembanyama staying healthy for the most part this year, the Spurs have been one of the most dominant teams in the NBA.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have proven to be difficult to catch in the Western Conference. Yet, the Spurs are within reach. Sitting in the second seed with a 49-18 record, San Antonio trails the Thunder by 3.5 games.

The next team in line, the Los Angeles Lakers, are 10.5 games out from the top seed.

The Spurs are on pace to lock in a playoff spot soon enough. The 2026 playoffs will mark the first time Wembanyama will get a chance to compete in the postseason. As dominant as he’s been over the past three seasons, the Spurs haven’t been able to grab a top-eight seed.

This season, Webanyama has appeared in 52 games. He is making 50% of his shots from the field and 36% of his attempts from three (career-highs), to average 24.3 points per game. The veteran center is producing a double-double with 11.2 rebounds per game, along with 3.0 assists per game.

The Spurs and the Clippers are slated for a 10 PM ET tip on Monday.
