Skip Bayless believes the Eagles trading AJ Brown is simply a matter of when not if.

In the early stages of the offseason, one major storyline for the Philadelphia Eagles is the future of AJ Brown. Amid their recent signing, one analyst gave his thoughts on how things could unfold for the star wideout.

Following another season littered with off-field drama and a rumored disconnect, many expect the Eagles and Brown to go their separate ways in the coming months. During the March 16th episode of his “The Arena: Gridiron” show, Skip Bayless decided to weigh in on the ongoing saga.

Despite being a known supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, Bayless had high praise for Eagles GM Howie Roseman. He fully expects the longtime executive to pull off a Brown trade, and believes a framework is already agreed upon and now is just waiting for the right time.

“I believe that AJ Brown will be traded on July the 2nd when the cap hit will fall from 40 to 20 million dollars,” Bayless said. “And if I know Howie, he’s already got a verbal agreement with somebody to trade him already.”

Brown, 28, is fresh off his fourth-straight 1,000-yard season with Philadelphia since being traded to the Eagles in 2022.

NFL Insider Provides Lackluster Update on Eagles WR AJ Brown

While Bayless is confident the Eagles already have something lined up for Brown, recent reporting on the ordeal tells a different story.

Despite drawing interest from numerous teams, the Eagles were able to retain free-agent tight end Dallas Goedert via a one-year deal worth $7 million. In the midst of this news, NFL insider Adam Schefter provided the latest on the Brown front. He reported that there are no new developments on a possible trade since news emerged that Roseman has begun listening to offers.

Goedert has become a foundational piece of the Eagles’ offense since being a second-round pick in 2018. His production saw a noticeable increase last season, catching a career-high 11 touchdowns to go along with 591 yards. With Jalen Hurts getting his starting tight end back in 2026, Brown could be seen as expendable as trade rumors continue to swirl.

NFC Contender Now Reportedly Out on Trading for AJ Brown

As a proven high-level wide receiver, Brown was expected to garner interest from teams across the NFL. However, at this stage in the offseason, the list of potential landing spots looks to be starting to dwindle.

On March 16th, insider Ian Rapoport appeared on “Good Morning Football” to provide his latest intel on the Eagles wideout. While breaking down the situation, he cited that the LA Rams were once in on a possible trade but have since decided to go in a different direction.

“The Rams were one and they looked into it deeply,” Rapoport said. “Ultimately decided it was not for them. They are essentially as far as I can tell out on the situation.”

From @GMFB: A future AJ Brown trade remains a possibility, but by Dallas Goeddert returning to the #Eagles, it removed any time element. Brown’s trade scenarios may be revisited in June.

The Rams continue to try to build a high-powered offense around Matthew Stafford, and pairing Brown with Puka Nacua would have given them one of the league’s top receiver duos. As the offseason rolls along, only time will tell if LA goes through a change of heart and circles back on a potential trade.
