As the Golden State Warriors battle through a rough patch, they’ll gain a positive boost on the bench on Monday night against the Washington Wizards. Jimmy Butler is back around the team on the road.

The star forward is out for the season with an ACL tear. He’s been rehabbing for quite some time now, but Butler told reporters ahead of the Warriors-Wizards action that he’s in good spirits.

“All in all, I’m good, man. I’m happy,” he said.

While Butler is in good spirits watching his team, he admitted that the rehab process hasn’t been easy.

The veteran forward believed he was in a position to help the Warriors make a championship run in 2026. Instead, he’s spending a large chunk of the year spectating.

“Tough. Not being around my guys is hard. Not being able to play the game that I love. Not being able to travel. It’s tough, but the rehab has been going. We’re doing what we’re supposed to be doing to try and get back on the timeline that we talked about getting back on,” Butler added.

When Does Butler Plan To Return?

The 36-year-old was struck with his setback amid his two-year deal with the Warriors. When he was ruled out for the remainder of the year, many questioned Butler’s future with the Warriors.

Ahead of the trade deadline, some trade smoke suggested the Warriors could use Butler’s $54 million salary in a big deal to make a win-now move for this season. Instead, the Warriors claimed they would stick by him. As for Butler, he hopes to make it back in time to help contribute to next season’s Warriors.

“I do want to come back. We all know that. I can’t say when. Obviously, as early as I can to help my guys win some games. …. Whenever my body is ready.”

“Whenever my body is ready, I promise I’m trying to get back out there.”

The Warriors Are Struggling

The Warriors knew they would take a hit without Butler on the court. Now that they are without Steph Curry for an extended period as well, they’ve been one of the coldest teams in the NBA. Over their last 10 games, the Warriors have just two wins.

Heading into Monday’s action against the Wizards, the Warriors are on a five-game losing streak. Since Butler’s injury, they’ve won just seven out of 21 games. They have a good chance of making the NBA Play-In Tournament, but they are far from the team they had hoped to be heading into the season.

All Butler can do at this point is support his teammates vocally and hope for the best, while focusing on getting as healthy as possible for next year.
