As the team's lone trade deadline acquisition, Luke Kennard has been playing impressively for the Lakers.

It appears that the Los Angeles Lakers view Luke Kennard as a key part of their desired long-term goals.

According to Ashish Mathur of Lakers Daily, the purple and gold franchise has a "strong interest" in retaining Kennard this upcoming offseason.

Kennard inked a one-year, $11 million contract with the Atlanta Hawks last summer. He was then dealt to the Lakers ahead of the previous trade deadline.

The veteran sharpshooter has been playing impressive basketball for the Lakers as a key contributor. In 17 games played so far, he is averaging 9.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists.

He is shooting a red-hot 56.9 percent from the field, including a highly accurate 46.4 percent from beyond the arc across 3.1 attempts per game.

Beyond solid productivity, Kennard (29) also fits well on the Lakers' timeline with Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves leading the way.

As the Lakers are aiming to store $60 million in projected cap space next offseason, signing Kennard seems to be one of their main priorities.
