Patriots remain as the frontrunner to trade for Eagles WR AJ Brown.
As the offseason rolls along, the Philadelphia Eagles continue to weigh their options when it comes to wide receiver AJ Brown. Still without a trade at the moment, one insider detailed the latest on one potential suitors pursuit.
Since the initial reporting that the Eagles were willing to take offers for the star wideout, one team heavily connected to the situation was the New England Patriots. Fresh off a Super Bowl appearance, he could be seen as a difference-making piece to pair with QB Drake Maye.
While on “Good Morning Football” on March 16th, NFL insider Ian Rapoport touched on the ongoing saga with Brown. He noted that some teams have rerouted course, but the Patriots remain on the trail in hopes of getting a trade done.
“The New England Patriots, who have had consistent dialogue with the Eagles and AJ Brown,” Rapoport said. “They are still in it.”

From @GMFB: A future AJ Brown trade remains a possibility, but by Dallas Goeddert returning to the #Eagles, it removed any time element. Brown’s trade scenarios may be revisited in June.
Rapoport also cited that a deal is more likely to happen after June 1st, when Philadelphia’s cap hit on Brown will drop significantly from $40 million to $20 million.
Denver Broncos Could Enter Sweepstakes for Eagles WR AJ Brown
The Patriots aren’t the only rising team in the AFC that could view Brown as the piece that gets them over the hump. Per recent developments, the Denver Broncos (who New England beat in last season’s AFC Championship game) might be a team to watch if this ordeal drags on.
While appearing on the “DNVR Broncos” show last week, Brian Baldinger spoke on the idea of Brown landing in Denver. He cited that interest comes from both sides and that the Broncos could enter the fray if Howie Roseman comes down from his steep asking price.
“Interested to see if the price drops on AJ Brown, if that’s still a possibility,” Baldinger said. “I know that there’s interest there on both sides. Maybe tepid, but some interest. At least enough to inquire on what the asking price is.”

Armed with a promising young QB of their own in Bo Nix, the Broncos could acquire Brown to pair their cornerstone prospect with a proven No. 1 option on the outside.
Analyst Believes There’s Still a Possibility the Eagles Trade AJ Brown to New England
When it comes to Brown’s future, the Patriots seem to be the frontrunner to land him if he gets traded. Though still in the early stages of the offseason, countless analysts continue to connect him to New England.
While speaking with journalist and TV host Steve Burton recently, ESPN’s Mike Reiss weighed in on Brown winding up on the Patriots in the future. In light of all the chatter connecting him there, he feels there’s still a good chance a deal gets done.
“When there’s this much smoke,” Reiss said. “It tells you that it’s still a possibility and that both sides aren’t extinguishing that smoke.”
Given his calculated approach to the Eagles’ roster construction, a Brown trade seems incredibly unlikely before June. That said, when it rolls around, the Patriots already seem to be leading the charge when it comes to suitors.
