The Boston superstar is simply surprised by the foul shots he has taken to lead the Celtics to a win against the Suns.
No other player in the NBA right now has been as critical of officiating as Jaylen Brown.
All season long, the Boston Celtics superstar has been making headlines about the treatment he is getting and the whistles being secured by his opponents from the referees. From flopping, free-throw disparities and his perceived lack of foul shots he has taken, Brown has been ranting off in the wake of his special individual campaign for this 2025-26 season.
But on Monday, Brown felt fulfilled beyond enough that he received the fair officiating he thinks he deserves. As he led the Celtics to a 120-112 home win over the Phoenix Suns, Brown went off for a game-high 41 points.
Mainly, a significant portion of his total points came from the free-throw line. He went 19-of-21 from the charity stripe, which stands as a career-high for both makes and attempts.
It is also the most that a Celtics player has ever since Paul Pierce, who similarly went 19-of-21 from the line back in 2007.
In his postgame walk-off presser, Brown himself couldn't even believe the number of shots he took from the free-throw line.
“Man, I ain’t never ever got to the free throw line that much,” he said about his free throws. "It's crazy.
“I feel like that’s how I normally play, but today I guess it got called a little different. I’m grateful. I've been knocking it down and got the win.”
