Jaylen Brown admits playing, finding balance with Jayson Tatum is ‘not easy’

As he continues to savor an MVP-caliber season, Brown is also trying to mesh up with Tatum's return while trying to lead the Celtics back to title contention.

Jaylen Brown admitted that playing and finding balance with Jayson Tatum this season for the Boston Celtics is simply challenging.

As he continues to enjoy an MVP-caliber season, Brown is also being mindful about how Tatum can regain his superstar form while trying to lead the Celtics to the top of the NBA this year.

"It takes humility, and it takes some understanding. I think JT is extremely important to us for what we want to do. Obviously, I’m having a great season, but I have to think about the big picture, and sometimes that’s not easy," he told reporters after a 41-point performance in Monday's 120-112 home win over the Phoenix Suns.

"I always put the team first and what the bigger picture is first. ... This team is different."

Brown is averaging a career-best 28.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists this season for Boston. Meanwhile, Tatum has only played five games so far since his sensational return from a torn Achilles, tallying 20.0 points in nearly 41 percent shooting with 8.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists.

The Celtics are currently occupying the No. 2 spot in the East with a 45-23 record.

In the end, Brown is keeping his faith and optimism high that they will figure everything out with 14 games left in the regular season.

"But it’s been okay. We find ways to win, and we just have to continue to do that. We’ve got some games left. It’s not going to be perfect. I think we could have won in a better way tonight against the Suns, but it’s going to take that growth factor by the time we get to the playoffs. I’ve got to be patient," Brown added.

"Everybody has to be patient. This is not the best version you’re watching right now, so we just take it one day at a time."
