The La Liga club has confirmed their desire to keep the Newcastle United man next season.
Newcastle United are set to prioritise signing a goalkeeper during this summer’s transfer window.
The position has come into sharper focus this season following several high-profile errors from Nick Pope, which has led to the 33-year-old being dropped for Aaron Ramsdale in recent weeks.
But Ramsdale is only on loan from Southampton and as it stands, the Magpies are unlikely to trigger his £20million purchase option.

Sevilla want to sign Odysseas Vlachodimos permanently
Newcastle loaned out third-choice goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos to Sevilla at the beginning of the campaign but he is unlikely to come into Eddie Howe’s thinking, despite excelling in Spain.
The Greek goalkeeper joined from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2024 as part of the PSR swindle that saw academy graduate Elliot Anderson controversially head in the opposite direction.
Forest signed Anderson for £35million, while the Magpies paid a reported £20m for Vlachodimos. He is the most expensive goalkeeper in the club’s history, yet has made just one appearance.
The 31-year-old has made 25 appearances for Sevilla and following Sunday’s 5-2 defeat to Barcelona at the Camp Nou, the stadium Newcastle visit in the Champions League last-16 second leg on Wednesday, their sporting director Antonio Cordon has expressed his desire to keep him at the club next season.
Cordón told DAZN (replayed by) Vamos Mi Sevilla FC: “We’d like to keep him. We’ll see, he’s very happy in the city. It’s a city that’s important for every player who comes here. Nobody wants to leave, and he certainly intends to stay, but we know his club knows he’s doing very well.
“There are big clubs in Europe that are also following him, and well, we’ll have to wait and see.”
Odysseas Vlachodimos has already addressed his Newcastle United future
Vlachodimos doesn’t yet know what the future holds with Sevilla unlikely to have the funds to complete a permanent deal.
When speaking in December, the former Benfica man admitted he wasn’t yet giving up hope on his St James’ Park career.
“Of course there was frustration that I didn’t play more,” Vlachodimos told the iPaper. “If you look back in my career, I have played plenty of games, Champions League games, international games with Greece, I always want to play and you’re a bit disappointed if you don’t play and don’t get the chance.
“I thought I would play more games, to be fair. I came with a different outlook and ambition but things didn’t go as I thought it would. It was a new experience to me because I’ve always played but I learned something from it. I stayed fit, kept training and I think it made me the goalkeeper I am now.
“Why I didn’t catch the game time that was spoken to me about before I moved? We need to ask other people about that.
“I don’t know what the future holds but of course I’d come back. Me and my family, since day one at Newcastle, have felt very good.
“I think we fit well with the club, I like the people at the club and the Geordies, whether that’s at the supermarket or out and around. Newcastle is a fantastic club. But I also want to play for them and to be important on the pitch.”
