Newcastle United's players are on their way to Barcelona ahead of Wednesday's huge Champions League last 16 second leg clash at the Camp Nou.

Eddie Howe's side travel to Catalonia full of confidence after Saturday's 1-0 win away at Chelsea as Anthony Gordon marked his return to the side by scoring the winning goal at Stamford Bridge.

Gordon was among the players pictured boarding the flight to Barcelona after missing out on the starting XI in last week's 1-1 draw in the first leg at St James' Park through illness.

But the big news was that Sandro Tonali, who missed the Chelsea win through illness, has boarded the flight and looked in good spirits as he arrived at Newcastle Airport on Tuesday morning.

Tonali was outstanding in the first leg and Newcastle will need him at his very best if they are to progress against the reigning Spanish champions in their own backyard.

Captain Bruno Guimaraes was also pictured boarding the plane but he will only travel to Barcelona in a supportive role as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Fellow Brazilian Joelinton was seen laughing and joking with his compatriot, while Jacob Ramsey and Sven Botman arrived together and seemed in good spirits, too.

Tino Livramento, Joe Willock, Nick Woltemade, Malick Thiaw and Yoane Wissa were also among the players pictured on images released on the club's social media accounts.

However, there was no sign of Lewis Miley as of yet, although he may have just not been pictured among the photos released on social media, and it remains to be seen whether the Magpies teenager has recovered in time from injury to face Barcelona, as was his goal when speaking to Chronicle Live earlier this month.

Barcelona also head into the clash on the back of a win after they beat Sevilla 5-2 in La Liga on Sunday. The winners of Wednesday's tie will advance to the quarter-finals where they will face either Atletico Madrid or Tottenham Hotspur.
