Bills get criticized for bold offseaosn moves.

The Buffalo Bills made two big splashes this offseason, and one analyst isn’t a fan of the move.

Buffalo traded for star receiver DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears and signed pass rusher Bradley Chubb after he was released from the Miami Dolphins. The moves were two big swings from general manager Brandon Beane.

Yet, NFL analyst Nick Wright of First Things First doesn’t like the moves, and he believes they were made out of desperation.

“Do you agree with me that the D.J. Moore trade and the Bradley Chubb signing feel like the moves of a semi-desperate GM,” Wright said. “Of a GM who feels like, while Joe Brady this is Year 1, the GM feels the clock ticking.

“To me, giving up what they did for DJ Moore and also giving him a new contract, which they didn’t have to do, and paying what they did for Bradley Chubb when they should know more than any team in the league, signing the older pass rusher coming off major injuries is a risk.”

Wright believes Beane is likely trying to save his job. So he’s being aggressive and isn’t worrying about what it does for the Bills’ future.

However, Beane is trying to get aggressive to bolster Buffalo’s roster in their Super Bowl window with Josh Allen at the helm.

Bills New Additions Praise Josh Allen

Buffalo has taken two big swings this offseason by trading for Moore and signing Chubb.

After Chubb’s three-year, $43.5 million deal was made official, he spoke to the media and had nothing but praise for his new quarterback in Allen.

“(Allen), he’s been doing it since 2018,” Chubb said of his new quarterback. “He is one of the best, if not the best, quarterbacks in the league. Whenever you have a guy like that manning the ship, I feel like everybody believes that they can win … When you got a guy like that, everybody buys in. Everybody knows, no matter what he’s going through, he’s gonna give it all and put it on the line for the team, and you can win like that.”

Chubb is expected to be a key part of the Bills’ pass rush that has struggled to get after the quarterback in recent years.

Moore, meanwhile, is also eager to play with Allen and expects the duo to have plenty of success.

“It’s a warm welcome, I’m just glad to be here,” Moore said. “[Allen] is ready for me to get there and get going.”

Buffalo Focuses on Defense in Free Agency

With the Bills firing Sean McDermott and hiring defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard, the team is looking to overhaul its defense.

In the first wave of free agency, Buffalo focused on defense by signing Chubb. The Bills then signed cornerback Dee Alford to a three-year deal worth up to $15.75 million. Alford recorded 67 tackles and 3 interceptions last season, along with 2 sacks.

After inking Alford, the Bills then signed safeties CJ Garder-Johnson and Geno Stone to bolster the secondary.

All three are expected to have key roles in Buffalo’s secondary, which struggled last season.
