Liam Rosenior's Dad gives his honest verdict on 'awful' Chelsea

Leroy Rosenior didn’t hold back in a scathing assessment of the Champions League race, branding the recent performances of Chelsea, Liverpool, and Aston Villa as ‘awful’.

Liam Rosenior was always going to be under pressure at some point, having been appointed internally by the unpopular owners, BlueCo.

Chelsea find themselves out of the Carabao Cup and potentially now the Champions League since his arrival, after a positive start initially. It’s now two losses in a row for the Blues, and the manner of the defeats is what really concerns supporters.

It’s the constant defensive issues and slow starts that are threatening to derail Chelsea’s season, and the worst part is that there doesn’t seem to be a solution.

Even Liam Rosenior’s Dad has labelled the recent performances as ‘awful’.

Leroy Rosenior slams Chelsea’s display against Newcastle United

Speaking in the Premier League Productions’ FanZone, Leroy Rosenior was honest in his assessment of Chelsea’s performances of late, putting family aside.

“Top four race. It’s getting very exciting.” The host said.

“Very exciting and very nervous,” Rosenior said.

“Very nervous for me. But Liverpool were awful. Villa were awful. Oh, and Chelsea were awful.

“One of them has got to grasp it. You know, Liverpool’s poor performance against Spurs.

“Chelsea again, poor performance against Newcastle. Villa have had poor recent performances, but still have that points advantage. But look, it’s there for the taking and whoever can get a decent amount of form together will get that Champions League spot.”

Chelsea currently sit on 48 points.

What went wrong against Newcastle United

Despite controlling nearly 70% of possession and having 22 shots, the Blues fell to an 18th-minute Anthony Gordon tap-in, Newcastle’s only real chance of the match.

Liam Rosenior later admitted a tactical issue with his new pressing system, which allowed Joe Willock to ghost through a ragged defensive line entirely unposed.

Even Anthony Gordon called out how open Chelsea were and the man-marking system.

Ultimately, Chelsea were punished for a single lapse in concentration, extending their winless home run to three games and dealing a massive blow to their top-four ambitions.
