Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen just joined Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes in an elite honor for the 2026-27 season.
Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills are entering a new era together in the 2026-27 season, one with a new head coach in Joe Brady. While Allen has won the league’s Most Valuable Player award, he still hasn’t led the team to the big game, and Brady is shaping the kind of roster to help Allen do just that.
Even though Allen hasn’t won a Super Bowl, his playing is elite. During the 2025-26 NFL regular season, Allen completed 69.3 percent of his passes for 3,668 yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, according to NFL log research, leading the team with 579 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns.
Off the field, Allen and his wife, Hailee Steinfeld, are expecting their first baby together. Steinfeld’s feature film, “Sinner,” was up for 16 Oscars at the 2026 ceremony on Sunday, March 15, but she wasn’t at the ceremony due to the pregnancy.
But, back to Allen and football. Now, Allen has notched an honor that only two other quarterbacks in the league have: Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes.
Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills Joins Elite Quarterback Talent in Unique Statistic
The Buffalo Bills drafted Allen in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft as the seventh overall pick. He hailed from Wyoming college and was one of an impressive five quarterback drafted in the first round of that draft, the others being Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen and Lamar Jackson.
Now, Allen joins Jackson and Mahomes as being the only three quarterbacks in the NFL right now that remain with the original teams that drafted them. Up until last week, quarterback Kyler Murray was also part of that elite group, but he left the Arizona Cardinals to join the Minnesota Vikings.
“Importantly, these are three quarterbacks who play for football teams that had faith in them no matter what the outside noise said,” Corey Giacovelli of Buffalo Rumblings says in a Monday, March 16 feature about the stats. “Mahomes wasn’t the sure-fire prospect coming out of college. People were saying that Jackson wouldn’t even be a quarterback in the NFL, and Allen had accuracy issues that people didn’t believe he could overcome.”
He also makes a good point that “sometimes it just comes down to a player’s fit with the team that drafts them.” Darnold, for example, has played with a bevy of NFL teams and finally won a Super Bowl his first year with the Seattle Seahawks.
Josh Allen’s Wife Hailee Steinfeld Scores 4 Oscars With the Cast of ‘Sinners’
Steinfeld’s move “Sinners” was up for 16 Oscars on Sunday, and when the evening was over, the film won a total of four awards: Best Original Screenplay for Ryan Coogler, Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, Best Cinematography for Autumn Durald Arkapaw and Best Original Score for Ludwig Göransson.
So, it didn’t win Best Picture, which instead went to “One Battle After Another,” but it scored four important awards, including one for Jordan, who starred opposite Steinfeld in the film. Plus, the film notched a new record with its 16 nominations, so history was made, even without the Best Picture award.
