The New England Patriots are still fresh off of coming up just short in the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks.
After an impressive first season under head coach Mike Vrabel, the Patriots are clearly on the fast track to bringing another Lombardi Trophy home. They have been aggressive this offseason in pursuing that goal.
So far in NFL free agency, New England has made quite a few key additions. The Patriots have added safety Kevin Byard III, wide receiver Romeo Doubs, fullback Reggie Gilliam, defensive end Dre’Mont Jones, offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker, and a few other smaller moves as well. On paper, they look better than they did last year.
With that being said, New England still has the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft in late April to improve the roster even more.
Drake Maye has emerged as a rising NFL superstar. He was a top-tier MVP candidate last season. Adding another weapon for him would make some sense.
New England Patriots Could Add Dynamic Playmaker for Drake Maye
Keeping that in mind, an intriguing potential wideout target has been suggested for the Patriots in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Evan Lazar of Patriots.com has suggested that the team trade back from the No. 31 overall pick with the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for the No. 34 and No. 104 picks. With the No. 34 pick, he has New England selecting Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston.
“The Patriots get Drake Maye a big-bodied target who can box out defenders, climb the ladder, and win downfield or in the red zone. Boston will inevitably get N’Keal Harry comps due to separation concerns, but he has more initial burst and runs routes with good pacing.”
Boston has become one of the top wide receiver options in the 2026 draft class. Adding him to the Patriots’ offense would give a nice boost for Maye both now and long-term.
What Does Denzel Boston Bring to the Field?
Standing in at 6-foot-4 and 209 pounds, Boston is a big body who is capable of making plays both down the field and in the short and intermediate game. He is coming off of two straight quality seasons with the Huskies.
In 2025, he racked up 62 receptions for 881 yards and 11 touchdowns. Back in 2024, he caught 63 passes for 834 yards and nine scores.
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com has offered a head-turning comparison for Boston. He thinks that the Washington wideout compares to current Los Angeles Rams superstar Puka Nacua.
He also shared a quote from an NFC scouting director about Boston.
“I don’t think speed concerns are valid. Anyway, you don’t have to be fast when you are as good as he is when guarded,” the scouting director said.
There is no guarantee that New England will target Boston in the 2026 draft. However, he’s an intriguing option worth monitoring who would help raise Maye’s ceiling even further.
