Chelsea have a strong midfield, but it would be even better with Claude Makelele in it.
Makelele is regarded as the best defensive midfielder in history and one of Chelsea’s most successful signings ever.
The 53-year-old has now been discussing which current Chelsea player he would love to share the pitch with.
Has he seen us lately? 🤣

Why Claude Makelele would love to play alongside Moises Caicedo
With Makelele being a midfielder in his day, it is not too much of a surprise that Moises Caicedo is the Chelsea star he would like to play with the most.
When asked the question, the retired France international told Chelsea’s official app: “I will play with Caicedo. Caicedo because I think if I can play with him, I can help him be one of the best midfielders. I like this boy!”

Chelsea and another one of Makelele’s former clubs, Paris Saint-Germain, face each other in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Makelele had a warning for Chelsea before the first leg, but nothing was able to save them from PSG in the end.
They lost 5-2 at the Parc des Princes, giving themselves an enormous mountain to climb. It is a mountain they will have to climb without Reece James, who has sustained a new hamstring injury, which will keep him on the sidelines for several weeks.
Moises Caicedo is already one of the best midfielders in the world
Caicedo’s form is not what it was compared to the start of the season. After all the debates, most would now consider Declan Rice as the best midfielder in the Premier League outright.
With that being said, Caicedo has still been among the elite in his position this term. In some areas, he is arguably still the best.

For example, according to FotMob, the Ecuadorian makes 3.12 tackles and 2.18 interceptions per 90 minutes, two extremely high averages.
Ultimately, there are not too many midfielders in the game right now who are better than Caicedo. Like most players, the 24-year-old can still improve, but Chelsea will be pleased with his development since arriving at the club from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2023.
