Barcelona president Joan Laporta has pledged to ‘try’ to sign Marcus Rashford this summer after he won re-election to continue his role.
Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on loan at the start of the season after falling out of favour at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim.
The 28-year-old has enjoyed a successful loan spell at Barcelona, with 10 goals and 13 assists for the club thus far. It is understood that manager Hansi Flick is keen for Rashford to remain, so attempts will be made to make that happen this summer.
As far as United are concerned, Rashford has no future at Old Trafford, but they will not budge on the agreed option to make the move permanent for £25.9m.

Joan Laporta wants to keep Marcus Rashford at Barcelona
It was a dream for Rashford to join Barcelona on loan, and he has never hidden from the fact that he wants to make the move permanent.
United will be confident that they won’t be short of interest elsewhere if Barcelona don’t trigger their option to buy the England international.
One way a deal could be compromised is if Rashford were to reduce his wage demands to become a Barcelona player. United will feel that Barcelona are already getting a good deal for a brilliant player.

Speaking after his re-election was confirmed, Barcelona president Joan Laporta was asked about the future of Rashford and Joao Cancelo.
“Marcus is performing very well with assists and goals, and Cancelo, on the other hand, is doing very well,” Laporta told RAC1, as quoted by Manchester World.
“He has become a key player due to the injuries of both full-backs. We will try, in Barca’s interest, to ensure that Marcus can continue.”
United have moved on, and it’s only a matter of time before Rashford does too.
Laporta will remain Barcelona president for another five years, much of which Rashford will want to be part of.

When is Marcus Rashford in action next?
On Wednesday night in the Champions League, Barcelona host Newcastle in the last-16.
Rashford will hope for a starting berth, but it remains to be seen if Flick is preparing to make any changes from the side that drew 1-1 with Newcastle in a previous meeting.
The England international has won 10 of his 17 meetings against Newcastle, scoring seven goals and registering four assists.
