Official Newcastle update on Tonali, Miley and Willock – Howe speaks from Barcelona

Newcastle United have landed in Barcelona ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League decider at the Nou Camp.

Barca boss Hansi Flick has already spoken to the media today, giving his thoughts on Newcastle, the tie and Nick Woltemade, and it’s now Eddie Howe’s turn.

Joined by Bruno Guimaraes on this morning’s flight to Spain, the boss has offered and update on injuries and availability as we edge closer to tomorrow’s 5.45pm kick-off following last week’s 1-1 draw.

Eddie Howe has offered some good and bad news regarding the availability of Sandro Tonali, Lewis Miley and Joe Willock ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Barcelona.

Tonali, who sat out our 1-0 win at Chelsea due to illness, is with the squad and hoping to train at the Nou Camp today, providing he ‘feels strong enough.’

Sadly, Miley has NOT travelled and won’t be back until next month, ruling him out of Sunday’s clash with Sunderland, but Joe Willock is with the team, overcoming a slight knock that forced him off on Saturday night.

“We’ll have a look at Sandro (today).

“It’s the first day we’ve seen him, so hopefully an opportunity for him to train [at the Nou Camp], if he feels strong enough. We’ll make a decision after that.”

Elsewhere, Bruno is back with the squad, but only in a supporting role, with our captain not due back until after the next international break.

As expected, Fabian Schar and Emil Krafth remain out, although Schar is aiming to be back at some stage next month.
