The NFL saw a blockbuster wide receiver go down on Tuesday morning. No, the Philadelphia Eagles have not traded A.J. Brown yet. Instead, it was the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins coming together on a Jaylen Waddle deal.

Brown has been the most talked about wide receiver in the NFL rumor mill for weeks. While the Eagles have continued trade discussions involving him, no deal has materialized yet.

In the fallout of the Waddle trade, a new update was shared by an NFL insider about Brown.

According to NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Broncos never had any interest in trading with Philadelphia for Brown, despite rumors suggesting the opposite.

“Despite speculation, I’m told the Denver Broncos never showed interest in trading for A.J. Brown. They always had their eye on Jaylen Waddle,” Russini wrote on X.

Two Teams Are at the Forefront of A.J. Brown Trade Talks With Eagles

To this point in the 2026 NFL offseason, the Eagles have had two teams become the most obvious trade partners for Brown. Those two teams are the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots.

Both teams remain interested in working on a Brown trade. However, Philadelphia is in no rush to trade him and there is a chance the situation could drag out closer to June 1.

Over the last four years, Brown has been an integral part of the Eagles being a yearly Super Bowl contender. Unfortunately, he has also brought some drama to the team.

One specific moment stands out as an example. In the middle of a game, Brown brought out a book and began reading on the bench. That kind of distraction can be damaging to a team.

There have also been many reports about a growing dislike between Brown and quarterback Jalen Hurts. At the end of the day, Philadelphia might be forced to make a difficult decision to move on from one of its main stars.

Looking Back on A.J. Brown’s Tenure in Philadelphia

After being acquired by the Eagles in a trade with the Tennessee Titans, Brown started off strong in Philadelphia. During the 2022 season, he racked up 88 receptions for 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns. He backed that up with 106 catches for 1,456 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023.

Over the last two years, he has continued to be one of the NFL’s most talented wideouts.

Brown caught 67 passes for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns in 13 games in 2024. Last season, he totaled 78 receptions for 1,003 yards and seven scores.

Moving on from Brown would be a tough blow for the Eagles’ offense. Whether or not a move will actually happen remains to be seen, but Waddle being traded before him was a bit of a surprise.
