Just as the Washington Wizards are getting Trae Young settled into their lineup, the star guard suffered an unfortunate setback.

In the Wizards’ March 16 matchup against the Golden State Warriors, Young was seen hobbled before heading back to the locker room. Shortly after, the Wizards ruled out the multi-time All-Star for the remainder of the game.

When he left the game, Young had played for 21 minutes. During that time, he shot an efficient 7-10 from the field, going 3-5 from deep. He scored 21 points in 21 minutes. The veteran guard also added five assists to his line.

After the game, Wizards head coach Brian Keefe didn’t have any definitive updates on Young. The head coach claimed that the star guard was still going through his medical testing, leaving his availability for Tuesday’s action up in the air.

The Wizards haven’t announced any detailed updates on Young’s status, but they made the early call to rule him out for Tuesday’s action against the Detroit Pistons.

According to the injury report, the Wizards are listing Young as out with a right quad contusion. His status going forward is unclear.

Since getting traded to the Wizards, Young has appeared in just five games. When he was traded by the Atlanta Hawks, the star guard was already in the midst of recovering from a different setback. It wasn’t until March 5 that Young made his official Wizards debut.

Over his five-game stretch, Young has seen the court for an average of 20.8 minutes per game. He is shooting 59% from the field, averaging 15.2 points per game.

Outside of his scoring, Young has produced 3.0 rebounds per game, along with 6.2 assists, and nearly one steal.

The Wizards and the Pistons are set for a 7 PM ET tip on Tuesday.
