Newly-acquired Denver Broncos star Jaylen Waddle recently called out one of his new NFL teammates to step into the boxing ring with the wide receiver.
However, the viral clip has resurfaced following Tuesday’s massive NFL trade. The Miami Dolphins dealt Waddle to Denver this week as the AFC West team aims to make a Super Bowl push in 2026.

Meanwhile, Waddle and All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain II will have a lot to discuss in the coming months. The veteran NFL wideout recently called out Surtain II during Adin Ross’ Brand Risk Promotions boxing event.

Waddle was spotted clearly on camera talking smack about his new Broncos teammate and jokingly suggested stepping into the ring with the standout defensive back.

However, the irony of the situation has escalated this week after Waddle’s trade to Denver. The Broncos gave up significant draft capital in order to acquire the star receiver, including a 2026 first-round pick and multiple late-round selections.
Last season, the former Alabama star finished the 2025 season with over 900 yards and six touchdowns despite Miami’s lack of success. However, the Broncos are now gaining a massive asset in the passing game for Bo Nix.

The celebrity boxing route likely won’t sit well with the Broncos stars for now. However, perhaps when their successful NFL careers are over that could be a route worth exploring.

It’s clear that the competitive sides of both Waddle and Surtain II will be very useful for the Broncos in the future. Sean Payton’s team could even have some exciting practice sessions with the wide receiver and corner battling on the gridiron.
