Heat Get Unfortunate Bam Adebayo Update Before Hornets Matchup

Bam Adebayo is unlikely to take the court for the Miami Heat as they face off against the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night.

After Tuesday morning’s shoot-around, Adebayo was downgraded from questionable to doubtful with right calf tightness. This news comes just one week after the Miami center scored 83 points against the Washington Wizards, surpassing Kobe Bryant’s previous mark of 81 for the second most single-game points in NBA history.

The Heat were on a seven-game win streak before Saturday’s loss to the Orlando Magic, in which Adebayo had 20 points and seven rebounds.

"We want to make sure that he's feeling good. So we'll be responsible with it," Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra said of Adebayo’s injury on Tuesday, via the Miami Herald. "He'll continue to do around the clock treatment."

Adebayo, the NBA’s reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Week, has played in 36 consecutive games and has only missed eight games so far this season.

Adebayo admitted he’s been playing through this calf injury over the course of multiple games.

"Playing through it a couple games … but it got to a point that I had to sit down,” he said on Tuesday.

Adebayo is averaging 20.0 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists through 31.9 minutes per game so far this season.

The Heat hold No. 7 position in the Eastern Conference with a 38-30 record. The Hornets are four games behind in 10th position with a 34-34 record.

Tuesday’s game will tipoff at 7 p.m. ET from Charlotte’s Spectrum Center.
