The New England Patriots had the second-highest scoring offense in the 2025 regular season and can continue to thrive next season with new additions to the team, such as wide receiver Romeo Doubs.
While adding Doubs, the Pats are still believed to be making moves in the receiving core. The trade value for AJ Brown continues to rise, with other receivers in the league being traded (for high draft selections), which may force the Patriots to back out and consider other options.

Stefon Diggs was the latest member of the New England Patriots to record a 1,000-plus receiving yard season, the first time in six seasons. With the Pats parting ways with Diggs, they need to go out and find another player of a similar caliber or better.
FanSided’s Mark Powell dropped a trade proposal that would land the Pats Davante Adams from the Los Angeles Rams. In his trade proposal, New England gives up a 2026 fourth-round pick (125) and a 2026 fifth-round pick (171) for the talented player.
“Now that this team is ahead of schedule and fresh off a Super Bowl run, it’s about time they start converting some of those picks into star talent, even if it costs more than one to do so,” Powell wrote. “Yes, New England added Romeo Doubs to their wide receiver room already this offseason, but he’s not enough…”
“The Patriots are not lacking depth at the position, but what they don’t have is a true No. 1 who can create separation on his own. For Drake Maye to make the next leap in his progression, Adams is a must-have for New England…”
It was reported that the Rams were exploring the possibility of trading Adams away while they were pursuing AJ Brown. This leaves the door open for the Pats to come and snag Adams from a Super Bowl contender.
Adams had his worst receiving yard season since his second year as a professional in 2025. Still, the wide receiver had one of his best touchdown reception seasons, leading the league with 14 touchdown catches.
Compared to Brown, Davante Adams is a cheaper option to acquire and to manage the player’s contract.
Adding the former Fresno State Bulldog will give Josh McDaniels and Drake Maye another weapon on the team as the team looks to return to the Super Bowl.

Regardless if the Pats were to add Davante Adams or AJ Brown, a member of the receiving core is bound to leave.
Kayshon Boutte had his best touchdown season. Mack Hollins had one of the better seasons of his career.
DeMario Douglas had his worst receiving yard season. Kyle Williams didn’t receive much playing time in his rookie season. Efton Chism, a preseason standout, wasn’t given much of an opportunity due to the depth at the wide receiver spot.
A couple of WRs are in the final year of their rookie contract and may say goodbye to Foxborough at the end of the 2026 season, or can be used in a trade piece for Davante Adams or other assets.
