Throughout the early portion of the 2026 NFL offseason, the Green Bay Packers have lost more key players than they have replaced.

Brian Gutekunst and the front office have added three players from the outside. They have signed defensive tackle Javon Hargrave and wide receiver Skyy Moore, who is expected to be a primary return man on special teams. The Packers also traded for Indianapolis Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin.

As for the departures, Green Bay has seen quarterback Malik Willis, wide receiver Romeo Doubs, pass rusher Rashan Gary, pass rusher Kingsley Enagbare, cornerback Nate Hobbs, linebacker Quay Walker, offensive linemen Elgton Jenkins and Rasheed Walker, and running back Emanuel Wilson leave town, among others.

Fans are waiting patiently to see how the Packers plan to round out their roster. One big issue currently comes at the cornerback position.

Last season, cornerback was a huge hole for Green Bay. While the Packers signed Benjamin St-Juste to replace Hobbs, there is still a problem that needs to be addressed. An intriguing free agency option has been suggested.

Green Bay Packers Urged to Consider Aggressive Free Agency Move

On SI’s Bill Huber, a longtime reporter covering Green Bay, has named Marshon Lattimore as a possible fit for the Packers.

“Lattimore, who will turn 30 in May, played in seven games in 2022, 10 games in 2023, nine games in 2024 and nine games in 2025,” Huber wrote. “He was pretty solid when he played, though, with Sports Info Solutions charging him with a 45.8 percent catch rate in 2024 and 54.5 percent in 2025, with only two touchdowns allowed and one interception in those seasons.”

The premise of his column was finding free agents who could start immediately in Green Bay. A healthy version of Lattimore could certainly start on Jonathan Gannon’s defense.

Not long ago, Lattimore was a legitimate NFL star with the New Orleans Saints. He hasn’t been the same player over the last couple of years, but would be worth a gamble for the Packers.

What Would Green Bay Be Adding in Marcus Lattimore?

Lattimore is coming off of a 2025 season with the Washington Commanders that saw him play in just nine games. He recorded 27 tackles, a fumble recovery, an interception, and seven defended passes.

Truthfully, fans would have to go back to the 2021 season to see the best version of Lattimore. During that campaign with the Saints, he totaled 68 tackles, a fumble recovery, three interceptions, and 19 defended passes.

If Green Bay was to sign Lattimore, it would be a risk. However, on a one-year deal, it would be worth the gamble.

Gutekusnt has to make sure that the cornerback room doesn’t hurt the Packers’ chances of a Super Bowl run. Should the team choose to stand pat, there would be a very good probability of that being the case.
