T-Wolves’ Edwards (knee) to be reevaluated in 1-2 weeks

Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star guard Anthony Edwards underwent an MRI that revealed inflammation in his right knee, the team announced on Tuesday.

Edwards, 24, will be reevaluated in one-to-two weeks.

A native of Atlanta, Edwards was already ruled out of the team’s Tuesday game against the Phoenix Suns earlier in the day.

The first overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft, Edwards is in his sixth season out of Georgia. He’s appeared in 58 games this season, averaging 29.5 points on .492 shooting, 5.1 boards and 3.7 assists over 35.5 minutes a night.

With the four-time All-Star sidelined, Ayo Donsunmu will likely start in his place.

The T-Wolves (41-27) currently hold down the six seed in the Western Conference. They are two games clear of the Suns for the final guaranteed playoff spot.
