Kenyon Sadiq believes he's 'one of if not the top blocking tight end' in this year's NFL Draft

EUGENE, Ore. — If you followed what **[Kenyon Sadiq](https://247sports.com/Player/kenyon-sadiq-46116067/)** achieved in Indianapolis, you know his athleticism is not in question. The **[Oregon](https://247sports.com/college/oregon/)** product posted the fastest 40-yard dash (4.39) by a tight end in NFL Combine history, and came close to setting new position-bests in the vertical (43.5 inches) and broad jump (11-1) too.

Players like Sadiq with freakish athletic abilities often have their toughness questioned. Sadiq is no different. A growing sentiment exists that Sadiq is a one-trick pony, a fantastic pass-game asset, who is a lacking blocker. That's not what those who watched him closely last fall saw though.

Sadiq himself wants to set the record straight. Tuesday's Pro Day acted as another chance to do so. There was no need for him to rehash his athleticism, he passed on all the athletic testing, instead focusing on blocking drills and route running.

"Anyone who says I'm not a willing blocker obviously doesn't watch any film. There's a lot of people like that on Twitter and stuff like that," Sadiq said after Oregon's Pro Day wrapped on Tuesday. "I've definitely made than an emphasis in my game. There's definitely parts that are lacking... There's definitely room for improvement, but I definitely think I'm one of if not the top blocking tight end in the class."

And while clips of Sadiq's blocking prowess aren't hard to find, if his production in that area dipped throughout the season it would make sense. After all, the 6-foot-3 athlete was far from full-go by the time stretch run was reached.

"I'm fully healthy again it feels really nice to get out there and run pain free," he said of the day. "I'm now fully healthy, so people wanted to see how I run and stuff like that. I felt today went really well. I was able to track the ball in the air. Brock did a great job out there today. It was good.

"It takes a long time for those lingering injuries to go away, so it was really just backing off, and getting my body right. It's really just time off is a big thing. As soon as I got some time off my feet and got into the weight room and back into my routine, by the time I got to Indy, my body felt really good."

Sadiq seemed to solidify himself as a future first round draft pick in Indianapolis. He arrived hoping to hit 4.3 in the 40. Mission accomplished.

"I didn't want to put it out there because I didn't want any expectations really, but it was definitely a goal to hit 4.3," he said. "As soon as I saw 4.4 twice in a row, I was pretty bummed out. As soon as it came back as an official 4.3, I was really happy, because that was my goal."

Also on his list of pre-draft goals was to establish himself as a known football junkie. Teams have asked him all sorts of questions at the white board. He was rarely stumped.

"Teams really just want to see how much I know. I've had teams ask me the quarterback read or the running back footwork. All those types of things. And I've been able to answer. Essentially knowing the whole offense, kind of the full picture of what's going on, and not just what you have to do on a specific play," he saod.
