Manchester City have a big decision to make regarding the future of the player this summer

Manchester City defender Nathan Ake is ‘wanted’ by AC Milan and Inter Milan, according to CaughtOffside. The defender’s contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in the summer of 2027. Therefore, his long-term future is up in the air right now.

Pep Guardiola’s side are sat in 2nd place in the Premier League table behind Arsenal. They are nine points behind the Gunners with a game in hand. Next up is their Carabao Cup final clash against Mikel Arteta’s side on Sunday.

Manchester City defender Nathan Ake wanted by AC Milan and Inter Milan

City signed Ake back in 2020 to boost their defensive department. He gives them more competition and depth at the back. The centre-back has made 170 appearances in all competitions, 25 of which have come this season, and he has chipped in with 10 goals from the back.

The Holland international, who has 57 caps to his name, started out with spells in his native country with ADO Den Haag and Feyenoord before moving over to England in 2011 to join Chelsea. He rose up through the ranks at Stamford Bridge and went on to play 17 games for their first-team. The Hague-born man was also loaned out by the Blues as a youngster to Reading, Watford and AFC Bournemouth to get some experience.

City have a decision to make on what to do with Ake next amid attention from elsewhere. At the age of 31, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him move on. A switch to Italy would be a new challenge for him.

After joining just over six years ago, Ake said: "City have been the best side in England over the course of the last decade. Coming here is a dream for me. This is a top side full of world-class players. Everywhere you look in this squad there are big names with international pedigree.

"Pep is a manager admired across the world - what he's done in the game speaks for itself. The success he's had is unbelievable and the style of football he plays really appeals to me. I know I'm going to have to work hard to get into the side, but that's what I'm here to do."
