“I See Too Many QBs Miss Badly”: Kurt Warner Reveals 4 Key Factors in Assessing QBs Making It…

As the NFL draft approaches, evaluations of quarterback prospects continue to intensify across the league. Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner recently shared his perspective on what truly determines success at the position.

Warner pointed to accuracy as one of the most critical traits, noting that he often sees quarterbacks miss routine throws during evaluations. In his view, consistent ball placement remains a defining factor that separates long term starters from prospects who struggle to develop.

Beyond accuracy, Warner emphasized decision making as another essential component for quarterbacks transitioning to the professional level. He stressed the importance of reading defenses quickly and delivering the ball on time, particularly in systems that demand precision under pressure.

Warner also highlighted mechanics as a key area that evaluators should closely examine. Proper footwork and body positioning, he explained, play a major role in maintaining consistency and preventing erratic throws that can disrupt an offense.

Warner recently shared the key factors in assessing quarterbacks who want to play in the league. This can be seen in a post he made on his official X account.

My 4 things I look at to assess who I think can be successful in NFL are less “stat” driven – I look at:

In addition, Warner pointed to composure as a defining quality for quarterbacks facing the speed and complexity of the game. The ability to remain calm in high pressure situations often determines whether a player can execute effectively against elite defenses.

Warner’s insights reflect the perspective of a player who built a Hall of Fame career through efficiency and precision. As teams finalize their draft boards, his emphasis on accuracy, decision making, mechanics and composure underscores the traits that continue to define successful quarterbacks at the highest level.
