The England midfielder was in sparkling form on Tuesday night as Mikel Arteta’s side beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 in the second leg of their last-16 tie, securing a 3-1 victory on aggregate.

The Premier League leaders will face Sporting in the quarter-finals next month after the Portuguese giants produced a remarkable 5-0 victory in Lisbon to overturn a 3-0 first-leg deficit against Bodo/Glimt of Norway.

Eze’s superb first-half goal was the highlight of a memorable night for Arsenal, who got another brilliant strike from Declan Rice to make sure of victory after the break.

The former QPR and Crystal Palace star delivered a fantastic overall display full of clever flicks and tricks, but there were concerns when he went down and received treatment for a possible ankle issue with just over 20 minutes to play in north London.

Arteta took no risks with Eze, who was replaced by Kai Havertz - who saw a third goal for Arsenal against his former club disallowed for handball - as part of a rare quadruple substitution, with one eye firmly fixed on Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against title rivals Manchester City at Wembley.

But asked about an injury after the game, Eze told TNT Sports: “Yeah, I’m alright. I’ll be okay.”
