The Miami Dolphins struck a blockbuster trade with the Denver Broncos.

According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Denver is flipping a 2026 first rounder, a 2026 third round, and is swapping picks in the fourth round in exchange for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the Dolphins.

This is a double dose of good news for the New York Jets.

Firstly, a 27-year-old star wide receiver has been jettisoned from the AFC East, making Miami immediately weaker. The Jets have to love that.

Secondly, the Broncos are now overflowing with wide receivers on the roster.

ESPN’s Ben Solak speculated that Denver will “hear trade calls” from teams interested in pass catchers Marvin Mims Jr and Pat Bryant.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini responded to that saying, “Darren Mougey on line 1.”

Insider Shares Some Exclusive Intel

NFL Insider Matt Lombardo joined me on “The Manchild Show with Boy Green Digital” on Tuesday, March 17.

During our conversation, he explained that the Jets could benefit from this Broncos-Dolphins trade by striking a deal for themselves.

“Marvin Mims is top of mind for me because there is a little bit of redundancy there in terms of skill set with Jaylen Waddle now being in that wide receiver room. He is a bit of a big-play threat. He doesn’t necessarily have the size to be a red zone target, but he could be that No. 2 receiver opposite of Garrett Wilson,” Lombardo said.

Mims is listed at 5-foot-11 and weighs 182 pounds. The former Oklahoma product entered the league as the No. 63 overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft. Mims, 23, will turn 24 before the start of the 2026 season.

“I loved Pat Bryant down at the Senior Bowl last year in Mobile, Alabama. Just really steady hands, smooth route runner, [and] finds a way to get open,” Lombardo told me on the podcast.

Bryant, 23, entered the league as the No. 74 overall pick in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft. He is listed at 6-foot-2 and weighs 204 pounds.

“If you’re the Jets, that is exactly the type of player that you need to be looking for. Not just to raise the floor on this year, but to have an ascending wide receiver who you don’t have to worry about paying right away … So I would watch Marvin Mims and Pat Bryant as potential trade targets and fits for the Jets,” Lombaro added.

The Jaylen Waddle trade may be DOUBLE good news for the #Jets.

On one hand, it sent a talented #Dolphins player outside of the division & on the other hand, the #Broncos are now overflowing with WRs.

Jets Have the Inside Track

During Mougey’s brief time as the GM of the Jets, he has struck 12 trades, including four this offseason.

If there is a deal to be had, Mougey could be in on it. That is generally true regardless of which teams are involved. However, that’s especially true when talking about his former team, the Broncos.

Prior to Mougey taking the Jets’ GM job last January, he spent 13 years with the Denver organization. There is plenty of connective tissue between the two teams, and that could make it easier to pull off a potential deal.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini said this week that the Jets are looking to add more wide receivers to the roster.
