The Sacramento Kings are hosting the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, March 17, in California.

Heading into the Tuesday night matchup, Westbrook was No. 7 on the list.

Just two assists would allow the Kings guard to surpass Mark Jackson. Three more would get him past Steve Nash.

Now, Westbrook is No. 5 all-time, and is chasing the Los Angeles Lakers superstar, LeBron James, who has room to improve on the list as well.

A Legendary Career

Westbrook is one of the best players of his generation.

The 37-year-old entered the NBA as the fourth-overall pick out of UCLA in 2008. He was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics, who became the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Westbrook spent 11 years of his career playing for the Thunder. He became an All-Star in eight of those seasons and was a frequent MVP candidate for several seasons. In 2016-2017, Westbrook was named the NBA MVP for the first and only time in his career.

Since his OKC days, Westbrook hasn’t had a long-term home, but he has made an impact for each team. He spent one season with the Houston Rockets before spending another with the Washington Wizards.

After his single season in Washington, Westbrook joined the Los Angeles Lakers for a two-year run. He joined the Los Angeles Clippers for two seasons before signing with the Denver Nuggets last year.

After the 2024-2025 NBA season, Westbrook joined the Kings.

This season, he has 62 appearances with Sacramento. Westbrook is averaging 15.4 points, 6.6 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game.

Throughout his career, Westbrook has posted averages of 20.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 8.0 assists. He led the NBA in assists per game in three different seasons.
