IShowSpeed’s team have responded to his likeness being used in a commercial that aired during an NBA game, and on Twitch too, as they called it “illegal”.
With YouTubers, streamers, and TikTokers becoming increasingly more mainstream, it isn’t a surprise when they pop up on television. Many of them have appeared on late-night talk shows, and others have had roles in commercials, too.
However, in the case of IShowSpeed, his face, voice, and logo were used in a commercial during an NBA game between the San Antonio Spurs and Sacramento Kings, which urged viewers to scan a QR code that appeared on-screen.

A number of Speed fans flagged it on social media, questioning if it was real or an apparent trick using AI.
Slipperz responds as IShowSpeed used in fake ad
Well, Speed’s cameraman Slipperz responded to things a short while after it had aired. “This was on TV????????” he asked.
A number of fans informed the cameraman that the commercial had aired on a Fanduel broadcast of the game, while others also saw it on Twitch.

“LMAO, yo how does a company make such a mistake so publicly thank you for letting me know,” he said.

“No this advertisement is illegal and will be addressed!” Slipperz replied to another, who had asked if Speed had sold his likeness to an AI company like Khaby Lame.

While the voice mimics Speed well enough, the visual part of the ad is a dead giveaway to it being faked. Whoever put it together used footage of him from a YouTube video with GQ, which fans are instantly going to recognise.
These fake adverts have long been an issue online, with esports stars and other streamers being used to convince viewers that they can get some free bitcoin or cryptocurrencies.

It remains to be seen if the commercial will pop up again anywhere else, but Speed’s team is very well aware of it now.
